Sample report: what one lookup returns
A complete report on an illustrative car, laid out exactly as the online copy of a real report. The VIN is a placeholder, and the readings and the mileage are filled in to show a full history.
- Tesla’s estimate
- 93.4% of its original energy, at 1 yr 6 mo old, reported by the car on 5 Oct 2026
- Capacity now, Tesla’s figure
- 89.2 kWh, as of our lookup on 5 Oct 2026
- Against the reference
- 96.5 kWh (Palladium): 7.3 kWh below. Grade Good, our scale.
- Among comparable cars
- Ahead of about 75% of comparable Model S Palladium cars of about the same age and mileage, on capacity and degradation against the typical curve of those cars, as of the issue date. Better than most. Trims with the same battery are counted together.
- Odometer
- 31 000 km, entered by the person who requested the reading

What this report is
Source. The battery figures are the estimate Tesla’s own systems hold for this car, as reported by Tesla. The percentage was reported by the car on 5 Oct 2026 and the kWh figure is as of our lookup on 5 Oct 2026. We did not examine the car. The percentage compares the car with its own start; it is not a comparison with other cars.
Not a promise. An estimate from the car’s software, as of one date. It can be missing, change after a software update or differ from a workshop measurement. It is not a warranty, not a condition report and not advice about a price. It does not assess the battery’s safety and does not predict its remaining life.
Reference figure. The reference (96.5 kWh, Palladium) is an approximate figure for the model when new, on the same basis as Tesla’s kWh figure, not what this car held when new; cars start a little above or below it. The grade (Good) compares Tesla’s kWh figure with that reference on our own scale: Excellent from 97%, Good from 92% to below 97%, Fair from 85% to below 92%, Weak below 85%. It is not a Tesla rating.
Comparable cars. The standing places this car among comparable Model S Palladium cars of about the same age and mileage, on capacity and degradation against the typical curve of those cars, as the service computed it on 2026-10-05. It is frozen with the report. Trims with the same battery are counted together.
Odometer. The mileage on the report (31 000 km) was entered by the person who requested the reading, not read from the car.
Who. Battery Figures is independent and not affiliated with Tesla, Inc. Tesla is a trademark of Tesla, Inc.
About the figures
How the estimate, the reference and the comparison are read and computed is set out in the methodology and the guides; questions about this report go to the service, not to Tesla.
