Privacy policy
What Battery Figures collects, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. We collect as little as the service needs and we do not sell it.
Who is responsible
[Operator name, registered address and company number to be added.] Contact for privacy requests: [contact email to be added].
What we collect
- Your email address, to create your account and send login links. There is no password.
- The VINs you look up and the results Tesla returns for them, and the notes and prices you add to the cars you are checking. The list of cars you have checked is private to your account.
- Mileage you enter for a car you are checking. The mileage and battery data describe the vehicle, not you. They are used only as anonymous, aggregated data (bands of cars, a median from 3 cars, a middle range from 5) that is shown to other users for comparison. They are never shown per car, never shown with a VIN and cannot be attributed to anyone. Each car counts once in these statistics, however many people look it up.
- Purchases. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of what was bought, the amount and a payment reference. We never receive or store your card number.
- Technical data. Our servers see your IP address and request details. We use them to run the service, to limit abuse and to find faults, and we store a hashed identifier rather than the plain address where we need to count requests.
Why we use it
To provide the service you asked for: logging you in, looking up cars, keeping your list of checked cars, selling and tracking lookups, preventing misuse and meeting legal duties such as accounting. [Legal bases to be confirmed by counsel.]
Who else receives it
- Tesla receives the VIN you look up, because the battery estimate comes from Tesla.
- Stripe processes payments.
- An email provider delivers login messages and receipts. [Provider to be named.]
- A hosting provider runs our servers. [Provider and location to be named.]
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.
Cookies
We set one cookie, to keep you logged in. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics. Your browser also keeps your display choices, such as a currency or table layout, on your own device.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. Records we must keep for accounting are kept for the period the law requires. [Retention periods to be confirmed.] Battery readings for a VIN belong to the car’s record, not to your account, and are kept without any link to you after your account is deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and the data tied to it. Write to the contact above and we will act on a deletion request without undue delay. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for logged-in users, by email.
